Salo IoT Campus will host a solar power plant consisting of 1134 solar panels. The installation is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 50 tons per year.
"Salo IoT Campus and its tenants consume significant amounts of energy. It is everyone's responsibility to contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions and transitioning towards cleaner energy," says Salo IoT Campus CEO Atte Köykkä. Turku Energia, one of Finland's largest energy companies, is constructing a 420 kWp power plant on the site, which will be among the largest solar power installations in Salo.
A renewable energy solar power plant is being constructed on the rooftop of Salo IoT Campus's parking facility. The plant will feature solar panels supplied by Salo Solar, manufactured locally in Salo, and awarded the Finnish Key Flag symbol. CEO Köykkä commends the new energy partnership: “With Turku Energia, we have found a clear and effective model to generate electricity from the sun for all campus customers.'"

"We also take care of the maintenance and upkeep of the power plants, ensuring that our customers can enjoy clean solar energy without any maintenance concerns.
The planned power plant will produce 374 MWh per year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 180 apartment units. The estimated production from the plant is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 50 tons per year.
Construction of the solar power plant will commence this year, with the goal of starting production in March 2022, during the spring sunlight.
