Salo IoT Campus and Factory have signed an agreement for restaurant and café services. The new agreement will start on March 1, 2024. This will be the 20th restaurant in the Factory chain and the first Factory restaurant outside the Helsinki metropolitan area.
In March, Factory, well-known in the Helsinki metropolitan area for its strong lunch offerings, will commence as the campus's new restaurant service partner. This marks a significant upgrade in the campus's dining services, as the restaurant facilities will undergo a complete renovation, consolidating dining services into the Kuutio building where the current café is located. Atte Köykkä, CEO of Salo IoT Campus, explains the decision: "Through this renovation, we aim to create a more comfortable and inviting atmosphere in the restaurant space. By centralizing dining services in Kuutio, we also aim to liven up the surroundings of the campus's main atrium."
The goal is to establish the best lunch restaurant in Salo. In the 2023 Finland's Best Lunch competition, customers voted Factory Pitäjänmäki as Helsinki's best, with other Factory restaurants ranking in the top three in Vantaa and Espoo. Expectations are high for the new campus restaurant as well: "With this renovation, we aim to achieve the reputation of having Salo's best lunch restaurant, and I believe Factory is an excellent partner for this," Köykkä remarks.
Starting in March, a wide-ranging buffet lunch will be offered daily with varying menus. Following Factory's style, meals are prepared in their own kitchen with menus designed onsite, complemented by desserts and daily coffee. Factory also boasts strong experience in catering and meeting services. Matti Karvonen, CEO of Factory, expresses excitement: "Being the first Factory outside the Helsinki metropolitan area is a historic step for us. We have grown according to our company's strategy and consistently receive offers from landlords, but we have always managed our growth carefully. We found Salo IoT Campus's property and surroundings highly appealing, and our collaboration with the campus team has started off well. We look forward to opening the restaurant on campus!"
