During early summer, the Mood Disorders Team of the Hospital District of Varsinais-Suomi has relocated to temporary facilities at Salo IoT Campus. The new spaces in the Service Building have now been taken into use, and client reception times on the campus have commenced. Some appointments of the Mood Disorders Team will continue at Vilhonkatu, while others have moved to the campus.
Suvi Virenius, the Head Nurse of the Mood Disorders Department at the Hospital District of Varsinais-Suomi, is pleased with the new facilities on the campus: "Salo IoT Campus provided us with ready-to-move, modern spaces that suit our needs very well. The location is also convenient, making it easy for our clients to access the new facilities."
Mental health services are integrated into other services.
Temporary facilities at Salo IoT Campus also support TYKS Psychiatry's new strategy, which aims for a more open approach to mental health disorders. According to modern thinking, mental health services should be close to other societal services. "Stigma is the biggest barrier to promoting population mental health and mental health services. Open and easily accessible spaces aim to reduce the stigma associated with mental health services. Services should not be avoided due to shame," Virenius summarizes. "At the campus, we are close to other services and people, yet in our own peace. However, our own entrance ensures privacy for clients who value it," she continues.
From the campus, spaces cater to diverse needs
Salo IoT Campus CEO Atte Köykkä welcomes the newcomers, saying, "I'm delighted to see our campus community diversifying and growing once again. I hope you'll enjoy your time here, and that our collaboration becomes long-lasting. Our strategy at the campus is to build a community where diverse businesses, educational institutions, and service providers thrive, leveraging the synergies offered by the community to enhance their own operations. Moving forward, our goal is to attract new players across all these sectors to the campus."
