The energy efficiency project of Salo IoT Campus will commence in February

Salo IoT Campus is launching an energy efficiency project in the Cube building in collaboration with Enerz.

As part of the energy efficiency project, the existing ventilation units and building automation systems in the Cube building will be modernized. The modernized building technology system will ensure comfortable and adjustable conditions year-round in terms of temperature and indoor air quality. Adjustability will enable reduced energy and maintenance costs while improving conditions.

The Cube building, completed in 1987 and totaling 7400 m², has been chosen as the initial target for the energy efficiency project. "Cube was selected as the first target for our energy efficiency initiative because it is one of our oldest buildings with high occupancy rates. Currently, Cube hosts about twenty businesses, and besides energy savings, the project aims to enhance the comfort of the premises," said Atte Köykkä, CEO of Salo IoT Campus. "Cube is a compact building suitable as a pilot for the energy efficiency project, and we expect to achieve a reduction of 1,390,000 kgCO2 over the next 20 years. Once we meet the project's objectives, we plan to continue energy efficiency initiatives in other parts of the building. Our goal is to upgrade the technology in other buildings over the next five years," Köykkä added.

The energy efficiency project will be implemented in collaboration with Enerz. "Enerz is a familiar and reliable partner for us, and together, we have achieved significant energy savings in recent years with smaller measures. It's great to embark on this project with them," praised property manager Pasi Vuotila. Enerz has extensive experience in executing energy efficiency projects and guarantees energy savings for their initiatives.

The Cube's energy efficiency project is part of Salo IoT Campus's broader energy efficiency plan aimed at achieving substantial energy savings in the coming years. In 2022, Salo IoT Campus joined the Real Estate Sector's Energy Efficiency Agreement, committing to responsible and efficient energy use and reducing campus carbon dioxide emissions.
