TYKS Psychiatry is centralizing its operations at Salo IoT Campus

31.8.2022

Salo IoT Campus and Varsinais-Suomi Hospital District have signed a long-term lease agreement for TYKS Psychiatry's upcoming outpatient facilities. The 1,400 m² space in the Kampa building, previously used as offices, will be customized according to the unit's needs.

The new facilities will now allow the consolidation of dispersed specialized psychiatric services into shared spaces. These modern facilities will support the development of Psychiatry's operations and staff expertise, enabling high-quality, personalized care for clients. Planning for the campus's incoming spaces has already begun, with renovations scheduled to commence next week.

Since the beginning of June, TYKS Psychiatry has been using temporary facilities on the campus, and upon completion of the new premises, the reception facilities for these temporary spaces will also move from the Service Building to the Kampa building. Suvi Virenius, Head Nurse of the mood disorder division at Varsinais-Suomi Hospital District, expresses delight about the new agreement: "The temporary facilities in the Service Building have worked well, and we are eagerly looking forward to moving into our new, custom-designed spaces. We aim to provide functional and modern facilities for our clients and staff, and fortunately, Salo IoT Campus's Kampa building offers a space of suitable size that can be customized through renovations to meet our specific needs."

Collaboration to reduce stigma

TYKS Psychiatry aims to create a future-oriented psychiatric service system at Salo IoT Campus's new outpatient facilities that is open and easily accessible. In TYKS Psychiatry's new strategy, there is a focus on fostering a more open attitude towards mental health disorders, and by integrating outpatient services near other facilities, the aim is to reduce stigma associated with mental health services. "It's important that the area offers services beyond those of the well-being sector, which would increase social interaction and decrease stigma, " explains Virenius.

väliotsikko: The campus also has space for diverse services.

As construction begins for TYKS Psychiatry's facilities, the second site in the Kampa building is nearing completion. Renovations for the elderly care unit on the third floor of Kampa are set to finish in September, with plans to open the unit later this year. 'Following the space assessment, suitable facilities for TYKS Psychiatry were found in the same building where the service housing unit will be opened. Both units have been designed to accommodate growth,' notes Atte Köykkä, CEO of Salo IoT Campus.
